What is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol, and is just one of over 85 cannabinoids presently identified in the cannabis plant. THC is only present in small amounts, while CBD dominates the plant’s makeup. This allows users to experience the balancing effects of CBD, without the psychoactive results of THC. Hemp derived CBD oil is typically made from high CBD, low THC hemp, unlike most medical marijuana products, which are usually made from plants with high concentrations of psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).It acts on the body’s endocannabinoid system, creating changes in the body, which can be beneficial in many ways. How CBD works:

Does CBD Oil Make me High?
CBD does not induce a high or euphoric feeling. The hemp that is typically used is of a low THC variety, and there are many differences between the effects of the two. There are thousands of different varieties of hemp. Using these unique plants, modern science and engineering has learned to extract cannabis oil that contains significant levels of CBD, as well as essential vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, terpenes, flavonoids, and other non-psychoactive cannabinoids.
CBD In Treatment:

Some studies, such as an investigation published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, found that CBD reduced inflammation in mice and rats that were treated. A 2008 review identified that CBD offered effective pain relief without causing adverse side effects in patients.
Anti-Seizure Properties: Seizures occur when there’s a dramatic fluctuation of electrical activity in the brain. Over the years, many high profile cases have raised awareness of CBD’s anti-seizure properties, but it’s only recently that science has been able to confirm this link. A trial published in The New England Journal of Medicine explored the effect of CBD on young adults with a rare type of epilepsy with seizures that are often induced by fever. Those who received CBD saw their seizure frequency drop by a median of 38.9 percent.
Combat Anxiety: While CBD is most commonly used to treat physiological symptoms, there’s a growing consensus that indicates it can also be used in the therapy of a range of mental health conditions, including anxiety. A study by the University of São Paulo found that CBD significantly reduces subjective anxiety, leading scientists to conclude that “These results suggest that CBD reduces anxiety in [social anxiety disorder] and that this is related to its effects on activity in limbic and paralimbic brain areas.”
Fighting Cancer: Research indicates that CBD may be valuable in the treatment of cancer in a number of different ways. CBD as well as some of the other compounds found in cannabis have an antitumor effect and can amplify the death of tumor cells in both colon cancer and leukemia. In addition, investigations have shown that CBD can be used to stop the spread of cancer cells in certain cancers. It is important to note that the vast majority of CBD and cancer studies are pre-clinical, meaning they’re not conducted on mammalian test subjects, and the findings while promising should notbe construed as conclusive proof that CBD can cure cancer.
Treat Sleep Issues: New studies suggest CBD might help people with short term sleep problems as well. Joseph Maroon, M.D., a clinical professor and neurosurgeon at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center who researches the effect of cannabis on the brain, says that CBD has properties that could help some people sleep better.
Manage Diabetes: Though there have been no clinical trials to test whether CBD oil consumption may lower the risk of developing diabetes in humans, a study in the journal Autoimmunity found that nonobese diabetic mice had a substantially lower risk of developing diabetes if treated with CBD. Also, in a study that looked at inflammation caused by high glucose levels, CBD had been found to have positive effects on several markers of inflammation. This study suggested that CBD may be helpful in offsetting the damage diabetes can inflict on blood vessels.
